The value of consumer goods sales rose to 191.67 billion yuan in 2003. The transaction value of raw materials used in production for consumer markets was 15.714 billion yuan. Sales of consumer goods are expected to be 1,300 billion yuan in 2008, an increase of 300 billion yuan from 2004.
