Imports and exports cleared by Beijing Customs were valued
at US$68.46 billion in 2003, up 30.4 percent over the previous
year. Imports alone were valued at US$51.61 billion, an
increase of 29.4 percent, with exports at US$16.85 billion and
33.6 percent. Overseas construction and labour-service
contracts signed by the city were valued at US$480 million, up
72.7 percent for the year. Business revenues of US$350 million
were generated with these contracts, an increase of 50.8
percent over the previous year.
