The parks of Chaoyang District

Chaoyang Park

Chaoyang Park is the largest afforested metropolitan park built in Beijing, offering numerous attractions and superbly maintained flower and grass areas.

Ritan Park

The park was originally the Altar of the Sun built in 1530 and used by Ming and Qing Emperors to offer sacrifices to the Gods. Recent years have seen the park transformed to a delightful retreat. Improvements include a large entertainment centre.

China Ethnic Culture Park

Located near the Olympic Sports Center, this park houses a great collection of ethnic minority homes and bridges, with some replicas and other actual reconstructions.

Performances by ethnic representatives are often carried out.

Blue Zoo Beijing

This zoo is best known for Beijing's first salt-water aquarium. Visitors get a great view of the diverse collection of sea creatures by walking through Asia's largest (120 meters) transparent underwater tunnel where 6, 000 sea creatures from all over the world can be seen.
