Alike in theme to the prosperous 798 art space, Artist Village is an important art space in Beijing, housing a large number of the artistic community

Starting in the late 1980s at Yuanmingyuan, the village immediately attracted attention from the international media. It then moved to a quieter existence in Songzhuang and its neighbouring villages. The artists' community began in response to social disturbances of the time.  

As the name suggests, Artist Village is a place for artists, poets, and singers and attracts extra public attention due to romantic associations with creative lives.
