ECMall and Metropolis Tower to Debut in Zhongguancun West Zone

For a few hundred years, Haidian Xiejie was part of the ‘imperial avenue’ to the Summer Palace. When the royal entourage went to the Summer Palace, the Street would be covered with clean water and ocher. Five hundred years later the street remains, including the Guandi Temple beside the street. But the ocher has been replaced with pavement and the Temple has become a popular tea house.
Attracted by the old culture in Haidian Xiejie and the commercial hub, ECM Group has successfully acquired Plot 23 in Zhongguancun West Zone to develop a world class shopping center in ECMall and a top grade office building in Metropolis Tower.
The ECM Group was founded in 1991 and is presently one of the leading real estate developers in the Czech Republic. The company has already successfully completed several attractive projects in Central Europe, including commercial office buildings, shopping malls, hotels, residential buildings and technological parks. The element of multi-functionality and synergy with the surroundings is featured and emphasised in the many projects developed by ECM. The highly acclaimed design firm, Benoy provided the design for ECMall, and BBG for Metropolis Tower. And CB Richard Ellis undertakes the lead leasing agency role for both the buildings. In May 2009, the leasing rate has hit 55 percent which is remarkable considering the fact that the planned opening is in September the same year. With international brands in the likes of C&A of Germany, Bestseller Group from Denmark, Golden Jaguar International Buffet Restaurant, Uniqlo of Japan and ZARA, ECMall is poised to become a world class shopping center later this year.
