Charity Activities Get Attention
The Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs (CMCA) has kicked off
a programme to develop the country's charitable
activities during the next five years, according to the Xinhua
News Agency.
The programme sets forth general requirements and major
targets for the development of charitable activities from 2006
to 2010, and establishes guidelines on principles, basic
policies and related measures for charitable organizations,
such as instituting charity service networks across the country
and establishing a set of legislation to ensure smooth charity
operations.
Since China's reform and opening-up began in the 1970s,
great improvements have been made in the country's charity
undertakings.
