McDonald's China Restructured
2005/11/15
McDonald's China’s newly-appointed CEO Jeffery Schwartz made his first public appearance on November 1 at an agreement signing ceremony. He said McDonald's is planning to enrich its menu by adding new varieties adapted to the taste of Chinese customers.
McDonald's recently undertook a restructuring. The former southern and northern regional markets were realigned into eastern, southern, western and northern regions. Adjustments were also made at the management level. It means McDonald's has begun to deliberate expanding its management team and plans to improve its China business management in the wake of its China headquarters moving from Hong Kong to Shanghai at the beginning of 2005.
Schwartz, while elaborating on the corporation’s development plan, said that while McDonald's cannot demonstrate the importance of the China market to its global development with statistics, it is well known that the China market has great potential. McDonald's will continue to increase its investment in China by opening new restaurants and by training local management personnel and using more Chinese local suppliers.
Since opening its first restaurant in Shenzhen in 1990 McDonald's has opened more than 700 outlets in China.
