The China Police Association (CPA), which aims to uphold the
police's authority and rights, was officially established in
Beijing on September 12.
Its predecessor, the former Police Science Society of China,
was set up in 1992, according to a CPA spokesman.
The new organization is endowed with some new functions, the
spokesman noted, including acquainting themselves with views
and complaints of people, coordinating the police's public
relations, and promoting and adjusting the relationships
between the police and people, and ensuring the police's
rights.
In addition, the association will also address research
issues and international exchanges concerning police science,
the spokesman said.
