DHL Opens First Quality Control Centre

2005/08/14

DHL, a world-famous express delivery and logistics giant, opened its first Quality Control Centre (QCC) in Beijing on July 26, deepening its commitment to the Chinese market according to China Daily.

By using the best equipment and IT technologies, the QCC is the firm's nerve centre. All flight information and shipment movement data can be monitored as it happens, from the time a package is picked up from a customer's home or office to the final delivery.

The company explained that QCC can be also seen as a quicker and more efficient response to emergencies, and provides more reliable security for the entire DHL air express operation network

DHL is the only overseas express and logistics company to operate a dedicated quality control facility in China. Sean Patrick Wall, vice-general manager of DHL-Sinotrans, said DHL's business in China is steadily growing and it needs such a centre to cater to the increasing demands of passengers and to provide Chinese customers with secure, reliable and time-definite shipment movement.

This centre, DHL's 11th such facility in the Asia-Pacific region, is expected to connect seamlessly with other Asia-Pacific centres and its regional counterparts to increase transparency, flexibility and efficiency for its customers.

Wu Dongming, managing director of DHL-Sinotrans, revealed that DHL is preparing to open two other QCCs in Guangdong Province and Shanghai by the end of the year.

Wu said the centres are part of an overall investment that the firm is making in China, and 2 billion yuan (US$246.7 million) will be invested here in the next five years. The company will strive to contribute to China's logistics sector through a number of investments and operations such as catering and aircraft maintenance.
