210,000 Ideas for a Beijing Olympic Slogan2005/02/15
A call for public suggestions for a slogan for the Beijing Olympics has drawn 210,000 entries from around the world. A deadline for the motto suggestions passed on January 31, 2005. Organizers say they will wade through the entries and try to pick a winning slogan in a few months. Most of the entries are in Chinese, including one said to have been submitted by a two-week old baby, entered by his parents. The call for a motto began on January 1. Entries are to be judged by how well they reflect Beijing's notion of "Green Olympics," "High-tech Olympics," and "People's Olympics." Along with a slogan, Beijing organizers are evaluating public suggestions for a mascot and a song for the 2008 Games. |
