Sino-French Forum Opens in Beijing
2004/11/15
Closer scientific cooperation was the theme of the two-day
China-France Science and Technology Innovation Forum held
in Beijing beginning November 1.
The forum took place during the celebration of the 40th
anniversary of the establishment of the two countries'
diplomatic ties.
Many events are marking the "France Culture Year" in China,
but the forum on science will be the largest. About 300
representatives from both countries attended the forum which
was featured on CCTV.com beginning October 30.
The governments' support of scientific research and
partnerships between institutes and enterprises were two key
topics considered. China and France engage in close scientific
cooperation, particularly in the areas of environmental
protection, energy and information technologies.
The two countries signed a series of agreements concerning
scientific cooperation during French President Jacques Chirac's
visit to China in October.
