Beijing to Build Second Subway Loop Line
2004/11/15
Beijing plans to build a second subway loop line to improve
the city's metro network, China Radio International reported on
November 1.
The city has one loop line circling the city's centre now.
The second line is expected to pass through the central
business district (CBD) on the city's east side and the
Zhongguancun high-tech zone and the Olympic park in the
north.
More subways and light-rail lines will be built to serve the
outskirts of Beijing.
By 2020, if all goes according to plans, Beijing will have
16 subway lines, 6 light railways, and 6 railways.
