Beijing to Build International Food Street
2004/08/19
Beijing municipality expects to build an international food
street before the 2008 Olympic Games. The restaurants would
sell dishes featuring the world's cuisines.
A Beijing News Daily report said the food street is expected
to be located on a 50,000-square-metre space near the Olympic
Park.
It will serve as a support facility for the Olympics, as a
tourist attraction for Chinese people where they can learn more
about the diverse world of western food, and as a place where
international visitors and residents can get the foods they
prefer.
Beijing will also establish a centre to train chefs who will
specialize in preparing western-style food and to train
managerial and service staff from across the country.
