World Carnival Tour in Beijing

2004/07/15

People screamed and laughed while playing games in the Beijing International Sculpture Park as the World Carnival tour began on the night of July 2, 2004.

The second tour of the World Carnival in China follows a sojourn to Shanghai last summer. Tickets are priced at 50 yuan (US$6.10) each.

Monitoring computers were set up at entries and exits to the carnival to keep track of the number of visitors to the park. Gates were shut temporarily if visitors exceeded 120,000, said the organizers.

During the 52 days of the festival, the Carnival is expected to host 2.5 million visitors, 300,000 more than in Shanghai in 2003, organizers said.
