2004/05/15

China National Petroleum Corporation's Zhanjiang Port fuel depot, with a storage capacity of 945,000 cubic metres, has started first phase operation in south China's Guangdong Province.    Construction of the project was divided into two phases. The first phase, which started in 2002 and was completed at the end of March this year, covers 38 hectares and cost 520 million (US$62 million). The depot has 15 fuel tanks.

In the second phase, which is to start later this year, three fuel tanks each with a storage capacity of 100,000 cubic metres will be built.     Upon completion of the whole project, the depot in will be capable of storing 1.24 million cubic metres of fuel.
