Environmentally-friendly Construction Underway

New construction and evaluation standards have become effective for the building of the National Swimming Centre and other Olympic venues.

Environmental protection should be given top priority in planning and construction of Olympic facilities, said BOCOG Executive Vice President Liu Jingmin, vice mayor of Beijing, at the Symposium on Sustainable Development of Olympic Venue Projects on February 29. All Olympic venues will eventually be covered by the new system.
