Europeans Tempt City
2004/04/15
Introducing Tasty Europe to China, the European Union
(EU) hopes it can boost farm trade between China and the
EU.
We want to show Chinese consumers what a rich variety of
quality food and drinks Europe has to offer, said Franz
Fischler, EU Commissioner for Agriculture, Rural Development
and Fisheries during his visit to Beijing and Shanghai in March
on behalf of Tasty Europe , a high level business delegation of
25 executives from major companies of Europe.
The EU is the worlds largest producer and exporter of wine
with 70 percent of the global market and a major player in
other markets, for horticultural and dairy products, meats,
eggs and sugar. On May 1, the EU will expand from 15 to 25
member states.
