City Website for Migrants

A website for Beijing s migrant population has formally opened in Beijing. Migrants will be able to search the site for laws and rules concerning them and information on daily life.

Hosted by the Public Security Bureau of Beijings Dongcheng District, www.floating-p-home.cn has already established some sections including mailbox, rental information and migrants forum.

Members of the migrant population will be able to write questions directly online and officers will answer them within three days.

Beijing has a so-called floating population of about 3 million economic migrants who come to the city seeking out better work opportunities but lack hukou -- the Beijing residency card.
