Boeing to Cooperate with China2004/04/15
Boeing and China will jointly produce and operate the new generation of 7E7 aircraft, said Alan Mullaly, CEO and president of Boeing Civil Aviation Group, on March 28. He noted that the essential parts of about 3,400 Boeing aircraft in service worldwide today were assembled in China. Chinas role in Boeing production is also rising. Boeing s purchase of aviation materials from China has reached US$500 million a year and will grow to US$ 1.3 billion by 2010. Through such cooperation, Boeing and China can share knowledge and techniques, he said. He said the goal for both sides is to start 7E7 in production before the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008. With 32 years of cooperation, Boeing has trained some 24,000 aviation personnel for China. Chinas airline companies now operate 450 Boeing planes, taking up nearly 70 percent of China s aviation market shares. |
