Tree Planting at the Great Wall Makes for Meaningful Day Trip2004/03/15
Tree-planting in the suburbs can be fun as well as worthy: working up a sweat in the warm spring breeze under a pure blue sky, while enjoying the surrounding scenic beauty. Planting trees on hill slopes under the canopy of the Great Wall can be a double thrill, as few places supply better photo opportunities. Planting trees will also help Beijng fulfill its pledge to host a green Olympic Games in 2008. Here wed like to invite you to a one-day tour of the Badaling section of the Great Wall for tree planting. Built more than 2,000 years ago and rebuilt between the 15th and 17th centuries, the Badaling section of the Great Wall lies 70 kilometers northwest of central Beijing, in Yanqing County.
