NCPA World Theatres Summit Beijing 2009 Opens

2009/06/01

The NCPA World Theatres Summit Beijing 2009 was held on May 22, 2009, in the NCPA (National Centre for the Performing Arts) on Chang’an Jie in Beijing. Representatives from 11 foreign opera houses and art organizations of nine countries and 21 domestic opera houses participated in this summit.

The 11 foreign opera houses are all the top representatives in their own countries or regions, including the Metropolitan Opera, Sydney Opera House, Royal Opera House, Vienna State Opera, Teatro La Fenice, Venice, Teatro Regio di Parma, Bavarian State Opera, Oslo Opera House, Comedie-Francaise, Singapore Esplanade–Theatres on the Bay and Opera Europa; almost all of the representatives serve as presidents of these opera houses.

The representatives to this summit discussed the creation of opera programmes, management of opera house and the popularization of opera. They also signed a cooperative agreement involving performance-making, management, resource sharing, personnel training and copyright protection.

During the summit, the NCPA invited the representatives to review the NCPA production of Turandot, which they praised.

After a year’s operations, the NCPA has accomplished much in its fine art promotions in China. Other art organizations in China are rapidly training groups of young professionals who understand the fine art, evidence to the world that fine art is considered essential in China and will continue to blossom.
