Shopping

2008/01/01

1. Seasons Place: An airport or a shopping mall?

A netizen vividly described this new high-end shopping mall this way: “If you take a picture in the middle of the mall, I’m sure your friend will tell you it’s an airport…all steel and grey tones, very cold and cool.” Located on Financial Street (Jinrong Jie), with all the big brands, the Seasons Place never gets as crowded as its counterparts at Xidan. From Louis Vuitton to Gucci, it’s a good place for young people to come and get inspired.

2. The Gate City Mall: The one with a Mini Cooper on the wall.

The red Mini Cooper on the wall of the Gate City Mall is like an advertisement of the mall itself: not too expensive, but quite young. Surrounded by many office buildings in Zhongguancun, "China's  Silicon Valley," the Gate City Mall should be a favourable choice for white collars who work in the area. Like all the new malls, it still needs more customers. The situations may become better when the subway Lines 4 and 10 open.

3. Shin Kong Place: Customer-friendly, especially for babies.

The fashionable shopping mall from Singapore is in perfect order, as harmonious as the country. The sales persons here are well-trained. They will not endlessly try to talk you into buying anything, nor neglect you when you indicate a try-on. The baby room on the fifth floor is a convenience for parents, who could leave their babies there to play, sleep, have some milk, or even get their napkins changed.

4. The Place: Upscale Retail

If you want to have a date with somebody at the new extravagant shopping mall, remember to tell your partner the name of the place is The Place. What’s even more confusing is that the shopping mall has two buildings, with the famous 250-metre-long SKYSCREEN in between, under which is a nice place for road shows. It’s better to go there in the evening, so that you could enjoy the splendid SKYSCREEN and “update your vision,” as their slogan says.
