Whampoa Club Beijing: A Courtyard Setting

2007/07/31

Following the tremendous success of Whampoa Club at Three on the Bund in Shanghai, acclaimed chef Jereme Leung has opened a new stunning restaurant in a siheyuan on Financial Street, Beijing.

Like its counterpart in Shanghai, the Whampoa Club Beijing offers the epitome of contemporary Chinese cuisine, further underpinning chef Leung's vision of introducing new and revolutionary cuisines, while preserving the traditions of Chinese cooking.

Taking inspiration from traditional Beijing recipes, chef Leung’s masterpieces retain established local cooking techniques, infusing them with his inventive genius to result in cuisine that is guaranteed to delight and inspire lovers and aficionados of Chinese cuisine.

Dishes from Whampoa Club Beijing’s tasty menu (priced at 488 yuan per person) include appetizers such as old fashion soy-braised pomfret fillets terrine; black fungus salad with chrysanthemum petals; an assortment of pickled and crunchy vegetables as a salad; a duo of cabbage and spinach rolls with shrimps and scallops, flavoured with yellow mustard and wasabi jelly; or spiced tofu mousse.

Delectable main courses are just as diverse, featuring the Imperial Style Golden Seafood Soup; sautéed king prawns with ginger and garlic in Shandong soy sauce; Shandong style braised pork knuckles with a crispy crust; and stir-fried baby long beans with pressed bean curd; Beijing pancakes filled with goose liver and pork fillings.

Sweet treats such as traditional almond cream, almond egg tart and candied roasted almonds complete this stimulating culinary journey.
