Beijing Sizzles with Sala

2007/07/31

Salsa, one of the most popular Latin dances, has caught on in China, with numerous salsa clubs opening in large cities like Beijing and Shanghai. More elegant than disco or hip hop, salsa allows more freedom of movement than the waltz or tango.

In September, salsa fans in Beijing will be able to view the hottest and purest performance offered by the Latin world, the Delirio troupe from Columbia.

Highlighting salsa, Delirio’s performance will blend exotic and vigorous dancing with exciting music and spectacular acrobatics. Fourteen musicians back Delirio’s 60 dancers and 15 acrobats, a combination that has seen the group crowned salsa world champions many times.

Sponsored by the Embassy of the Republic of Colombia in Beijing, it will be Delirio’s first visit to China.
