Sixth Sinoces: Qingdao Consumer Electronic Showcase

Asia’s largest consumer electronics show will open on July 6 at the Qingdao International Exhibition Centre, with strong participation expected from Chinese, US and Russian consumer-electronics firms.

SINOCES (Sino Consumer Electronics Show) has served as a bridge between domestic and foreign enterprises since it was founded six years ago in cooperation with the International Consumer Electronics Show held annually in Las Vegas, Nevada, in the United States. The Sixth SINOCES will feature some of the world’s most sophisticated products and up-to-date technologies, offered by top world firms such as HP, IBM, GE, SONY, LG, NEC, Lenovo and Haier.

SINOCES is endorsed by the US Department of Commerce, which encourages US enterprises to participate in the show.

Qingdao Mayor Xia Geng said, “Qingdao is home to several renowned Chinese consumer electronics enterprises such as Haier and Hisense and has become one of China’s most important consumer electronics production bases. This is the main reason why it was chosen to hold SINOCES.”

From July 6–9, about 400 enterprises will showcase their products in the Qingdao Exhibition Centre’s 35,000-square-metres exhibition space. They will display their latest and most trendy products, including home and office electrical appliances, entertainment, telecommunications, security and auto electronics products, plus advanced software and future development plans. The theme of the show is “the deepen the integration of the consumer electronics industry across the globe.”

According to the organizers, “Unlike previous shows, many foreign commercial organizations, such as the American Electronics Association and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, plan to take part in the show.”

As a professional industrial show, targeted forums and meetings will be held with the participation of top representatives of domestic and foreign companies. Experts from IBM and Intel will give lectures. In addition, an energy-saving meeting, consumption and mobile applications meeting, and an intellectual property symposium, organized by the Sino–US Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade, will be held.

An organizer said, “This is the first time for the American Consumer Electronics Association to bring these three professional meetings to China. It is a signal of the market attention shifting toward China.”

But SINOCES is more than just a showcase; it is also an opportunity to view and order products. Name brand companies such as Wal-Mart, Carrefour, Bestbuy, KarstadtQuelle, OBI and Gome plan to take orders at the exhibition.
