Vitas to Appear on Beijing Stage
2007/05/22
Legendary young Russian pop star Vitas is bringing his fantastic voice to Beijing audiences, holding a concert on June 15 in The Great Hall of the People.
The handsome 26-year-old tenor has a boy-like voice whose range spans five octaves. He was the youngest singer to hold a solo concert at the Kremlin in Moscow.
Vitas became the most popular touring actor in Russia in 2004–06. His premiere The Songs of My Mother released in 2005 and was acknowledged “the best musical event of the year.”
Vitas' entry to the Asian market took place in 2005, but the mentality and perception of his audiences made it difficult for them to appreciate his skills, but a lack of knowledge of Russian did not keep his thousands of admirers in China, Singapore and Japan from paying attention to, then falling in love with Vitas' creative work, his voice and songs.
Vitas staged an incredible performance in a Russian-language concert on a CCTV variety programme in 2006. More than 600 fan-clubs have been formed in China since then. Letters from Chinese friends overfill the actor’s e-mail box each day. He has also released a CD and a DVD in China, both of which were successes.
