Elegant Gifts for Mother's Day
2007/04/27
Spain-based Lladro, the world’s leading purveyors of hand-tooled porcelain artworks, is bringing its latest designs to Beijing for the upcoming Mother’s Day observance.
Lladro Porcelain originated as a small workshop started by three brothers (Jose, Juan and Vicente Lladro) in a little town outside of Valencia, Spain. In the early 1950s, the brothers, who were employed at a tile company, began experimenting with figures. The company they worked for showed no interest in producing the items and the Lladro brothers decided to form their own company, which has now developed into a multi-national company specializing in making high-class hand-tooled porcelain artworks. It ranks third among Spanish local luxury brands.
One of the most notable trademarks of the Spanish porcelain is the pale and often neutral colouring of its glazed porcelain. It conveys a sense of simplicity and grace, with exceptional attention to detail. In its vivid porcelain figures and fancy gadgets, such as candleholders, Lladro practices its rule of “elegance and liveliness.”
“We want our works to be elegant and expressive, to exude life and have feelings. We want them to reflect the good side of life, the positive values of human beings and everything that dignifies life,” the brothers said.
This May, Lladro has specially designed a group of porcelain figures for Mother’s Day, reflecting the mutual love between mothers and their children. Some pieces depict a mothers’ excitement when viewing their newborn babies; some express a mothers’ pride in her children; and some reveal a mother’s gentle care of her children. The children’s sentimental attachment to their mothers is also vividly depicted. You can purchase them at Lufthansa Youyi Shopping Cener.
