Beijing Issues First Map of Local Hospitals

The Beijing Medical Treatment Manual, in the form of a map, was published on February 4, the first providing information concerning hospitals in China’s capital. Co-created by the Beijing Medical Association and Sinomaps Press, the map indicates the locations of about 250 medical institutions and how to get to them via public transportation.

The map includes a column called “Expert Clinic Guidance,” offering information about 624 reputable specialists and detailed information about 31 of the city’s best hospitals. The map’s makers hope it can be used to correct misleading or incorrect information that might lead people to inadequate or average medical services and to inform the public about the city’s excellent hospitals of which they may be unaware.

An official with the Beijing Medical Association said it took 15 months to plan and compose the map. The map will be sold in bookstores and newsstands in Beijing for 8 yuan each, but a copy is available for free at designated hospitals.
