Character and Morality Considered in College Recruitment

Colleges will take personal qualities and morality into account when recruiting graduate students, according to Beijing Daily Messenger on February 5. Teachers will test bachelor’s-level students on their comprehensive qualities, including morality, political knowledge, psychological conditions, manners and their sense of responsibility in the second round of examinations.

Zhang Fengyou, an official in charge of postgraduate recruitment at the Ministry of Education said, “A team of teachers will discuss whether to admit a student and then report to school leaders who will make the final decision. The Beijing Daily Messenger said teachers may also add points to students who have innovative expertise or who have excellent achievements in special areas of knowledge. Students can appeal to colleges or education departments if they doubt the results of the second-round exam, but reviews will be conducted according to rules created by the education ministry.”
