Beijing Earmarks Millions for Art and Culture Venues

Beijing will invest 500 million yuan (US$63.8 million) over the next three years to develop art and cultural venues. The venues, work and showplaces for thousands of artists and craftsmen, include the Panjiayuan, The 798 Arts District, the Songzhuang Artists’ Community and the Zhongguancun digital entertainment zone. The funds will be used to improve infrastructures and facilities at these prime venues, some of which have been on the brink of closure because of inadequate government support.
