Back to Basics

2007/01/08

People who are dazzled by the way too fast pace of our society’s development got a chance to take a breather in 2006, when 1960s returned to the fore in the fashion world. As an inseparable part of fashion, clubs in Beijing have gone back to the basics, the original spirit of entertainment, pure music and dance, led by the launching of Club Fusion in August.

Club Fusion, emphasizing on holding various themed dance parties, is a lively example of the “less-is-more” principle. Operators here did not separate the 3,600-square-metre club into too many spaces to make more profit, but divided it into only two practical parts: a dance floor and a KTV area. The 14-metre-high ceiling of the original construction was retained to heighten the club’s free atmosphere.

Be prepared to be dazzled by red LEDs flashing everywhere and music loud enough to rattle your skull. Plush booths provide front-row views of dancers and DJs. A stage up front promises live music. Besides regular DJs, Club Fusion invites the most popular and fashionable DJs from America and Europe, together with the latest house and trance music to turn everybody on.
