Christmas Shopping and Presents
2006/11/30
A recent survey seems to prove that most of the toys Santa Claus delivers on Christmas Day are made in Santa’s workshops in China, where children’s hopes and dreams are outsourced by the elves at Santa’s headquarters at the North Pole.
China is fast becoming the biggest production base for the world’s Christmas needs, and most of those goods are available in Beijing.
According to Maureen Brown, the 3.3 Shopping Mall in Sanlitun and Panjiayuan Market are first destinations in the family’s plans, because “there are so many interesting stores in 3.3,” and “traditional Chinese antiques are always among the most popular Christmas presents.”
Talking about Christmas gifts, Erik’s desires are crystal clear; he wants another Jay Jay jet plane for Christmas and seems desperate in his quest. Mrs. Brown on the other hand would prefer to give the two children books as presents. What can we say? Does anything ever change? This is always the situation between parents and children. But maybe after the Browns check out following BTM editors’ choice of Christmas gifts, they might change their minds completely.
Most of the items listed can be purchased at the Oriental Plaza and China World Trade Center.
