Eighth National Violin Performance Competition Ends

The finals of the Eighth National Violin  Performance Competition were held from September 17 to September 26, 2006, in Qingdao, Shandong Province.

This event attracted 142 players from 20 cities, mainly from China’s top eight musical institutes. These players were divided into two groups, youths and juveniles. Eighty-seven participants made it to the three-round finals in Qingdao. Ten winners were selected from each group; they got prizes ranging from 1,500 yuan (US$189) to 10,000 yuan (US$1,262).

The jury is composed of university professors and professional players from China’s top music ensembles.
