Green T. House Living

2006/04/01

The advent of spring proved to be a perfect time for Beijing's trendsetting Green T. House to unveil its newest lifestyle concept, Green T. House Living, in northern Beijing.

Green T. House Living builds on the established reputation of the Green T. House near Worker's Stadium in Downtown Beijing, which, since 1997, has become well known as an international teahouse, restaurant and art gallery. It also provides cultural events space and is inspiring meeting place for opinion leaders in art and business.

With its 15,000 square metre new facility in the prime, high-end residential Wenyu River quarter on the outskirts of Beijing, Green T. House Living transports its guests to a space that vitalizes the senses and soothes the spirit. It draws on the social atmosphere, culture and culinary heritage of China's teahouse tradition and joins them in a mix of energizing elements including new Chinese art and music.

The bold, pavilion-like restaurant-inspired by Warring States-period architecture-rises gracefully from expansive, terraced courtyards of white stone set within the vast complex. This monumental structure houses such elegant and innovative interior features as a huge white chimney floating over a long, slim fireplace and crystal floors and walls. The complex's kitchens and other functional areas are tucked away in an underground space to ensure an unhindered view of the surrounding countryside.

The cuisine, an extension of the inspired creations found at the original Green T. House, includes tantalizing tea and herbal-based dishes that blend fresh and natural organic products with time-honoured indigenous cooking techniques from across China.
