2005/01/01
China's first psychological evaluation system for primary
and middle school students is expected to better monitor and
prevent psychological problems of Chinese youngsters.
Professor Zheng Richang, head of the research team with Beijing
Normal University, said the evaluation system is composed of 29
chapters with more than 1,800 test questions. A pilot
evaluation was conducted among 20,000 students in 91 primary
and middle schools.
In recent years, the State Council has issued a series of
documents, calling on families, schools and social
organizations to improve the mental health of China's
youth.
Some Chinese universities and colleges have set up
psychological evaluations for newcomers and some primary
schools have launched psychological consulting services.
However, based on Guo's observations, administrations and
schools at local levels have not given enough attention to this
issue yet.
