Vision and the City
2006/01/01
Every city has a unique vision that makes it different from
other cities. This is what people are able to sense from the
vision show held at China World Shopping Mall. From the mid
December to January 5, the show exhibits video artworks created
by four groups of artists from Amsterdam, Berlin, Hong Kong and
Taipei. In the 30-minutes long video depicting their home city
and Beijing, viewers can feel the strong cultural differences.
And these video can be seen on the windows and roofs at the
South Gate of China World Shopping Mall with the help of six
huge projectors.
The Pfadfinderei group from Berlin focuses on the
"construction and reconstruction" of the both cities; Analog
Recycling group from Amsterdam puts emphasis on "commonality
and humanity"; ADD+ from Hong Kong cares about the history of
both cities; and Show One Hand Team from Taipei tells about the
culture difference hidden behind the simplified characters and
the original complex. It is hoped that this mix of video and
music will bring happiness and novel ideas.
Time: until January 5
