Austrian Airlines Brings Chinese Visitors to Ski and Memorize Mozart

2005/12/01

This winter, Austrian Airlines will offer five weekly non-stop flights each from Beijing and Shanghai to the Austrian capital Vienna, with connections to more than 80 cities in Europe.

To help promote winter sports in Europe, Austrian Airlines allows travellers to carry one set of skiing (skis, poles and boots) or snowboarding equipment (snowboard and boots) at no extra cost in addition to their checked in luggage. With this special offer, Austrian Airlines is targeting the growing Chinese winter sports community that is interested in testing their skills on the slopes of famous Austrian and European ski and snowboard resorts.

In partnership with the Salzburg Region, Austrian Airlines is one of the main sponsors of the 2005/2006 Chinese Skiing Champion Competition in cooperation with the Chinese Skiing Association.

Meanwhile, the year of 2006 marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of musical prodigy Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. On this occasion, a number of high profile cultural activities will take place in Austria ranging from special exhibitions to musical concerts and opera evenings. Austrian Airlines has teamed up with the Salzburg Tourism Office and major Chinese tour operators including CITS, CYTS, CAISSA and UTS in an effort to bring more Chinese visitors and music lovers to Salzburg and Austria to experience some of the highlights of the Mozart Year.
