Whether you like it or not (and we like it), sports are
taking over the capital city. Even before the Olympic bid got
going, Beijing was passionate about sports. In this issue,
Beijing This Month takes a look at the orts and other
activities increasingly form the fabric of everyday life of
local and foreign residents in Beijing. Whether it's working
out in a park, an international marathon or a tennis
tournament, sports and recreation belong to a multi-million
dollar industry that demands our attention.
Just as in October Beijing has the perfect weather for the
25th ANA Beijing International Marathon, this month welcomes
back the 8th Beijing International Music Festival where Beijing
music lovers will once again have their lives enriched by music
of all schools, classical or pops.
Last, but certainly not the least, Beijing This Month
and its sister organization, Beijing Foreign Cultural Exchanges
Center, invited a group of renowned photographers from around
the world to come to Beijing in September to record, through
their camera lenses, the changes and progress the city of
Beijing has made since winning the bid to host the Olympic
Games in 2008. We are doing a preview of their work and you are
going to hear what they have to say about Beijing.
