2005/08/26

The Beijing Pop Festival is set to open at Chaoyang Park on September 17. Pop singers, rock bands and rappers from China, England and the United States will take the stage.

Ian Brown, the leading vocalist of the English rock outfit Stone Roses, and Common, a rap star praised as the "Bob Dylan of Hip Hop" by Rolling Stone magazine, and Detroit music master Derrick May are booked for the festival.

Also slated on the bill are Taiwan singer Chang Chen-yueh (Zhang Zhenyue), mainland rock band Tang Dynasty (Tang Chao) and Overload (Chao Zai).
It is the first time for Chang Chen-yueh to perform on the mainland.
