Il Casale: Another Flyaway Success

Leandro Carrega is a larger than life character. Overflowing with charisma and a fountain of stories and laughter, Carrega is the multi-talented executive chef and face of Il Casale, Peterpan's new Italian eatery downtown.

Peterpan is the collaborative effort of Lu Hongwei and Claudio Bonfatti, co-owners and the driving forces behind Agrilandia, China's first Italian-style agrotourist farm on the outskirts of Beijing in Shunyi.

At Il Casale, Carrega carries on the tradition well-established by other Peter Pan restaurants in Beijing of offering reasonably priced Italian cooking for the connoisseur as much for the newcomer to the cuisine.

The restaurant at Jiangtai Xi Lu is bright and airy and comfortable caters for large parties or private diners.

With antipasti (starters) ranging from 15 yuan to 45 yuan and main dishes beginning at 85 yuan, generous portions and great variety make sure customers of Il Casale come away feeling well-fed and getting value for money.

Highly recommended, the pizza at Il Casale is a tasty treat with a thin crispy base, strong home-cooked, flavoured tomato sauces and aromatic toppings. Another popular dish spaghetti pesto, served with crushed pine nuts, olive oil and gently blended basil leaves. Don't forget to try the tiramisu ("pick me up" in Italian), top of the list of all time favourite Italian desserts.

Set menus range from 260 yuan for two.
