Editor's Note

2005/03/22

A mixed editorial bag for readers this month, just 10 days or so after the spring equinox, one of the 24 solar happenings in this part of the world.  As most people know, this brings us more daylight hours than we have seen for some time, so let's all be grateful that spring is now well and truly here. Animals have emerged from hibernation, people too (though in their case from their heavy under- and outer-wear). How nice to go in search of some bright, lightweight garments! Three of our writers, Daragh Moller, Lynn Woods and Jennifer Li, have come up with a clutch of new bars and restaurants worth visiting (see dining section), and give a rundown on what's what and where. Our cover story, a photo essay, will trigger nostalgia in some people, wonderment in others. We also update you on the important 2005 FORTUNE Global Forum to be held in Beijing next month. Happy reading!
