Stamps Issued to Mark Tsunami Relief Efforts

The State Post Bureau of China issued special stamps on
January 21, 2005 to commemorate tsunami relief efforts in
Southeast Asia.
At a ceremony for the issuance, the head of the State Post
Bureau donated 2 million yuan (US$240,964) to the Chinese Red
Cross Association for tsunami victims on behalf of the staff of
post offices across the country.
Chinese post bureaus have waived postage for tsunami
donations since January 1, 2005. Total donations via the mail
have exceeded 5 million yuan (US$602,410).
