Some people describe the Spring Festival as a time of "floating" for the whole country, because many people will be making mad dashes, whether short or long, to get home for family get-togethers. Though it is forbidden in dozens of Chinese cities to play with fireworks during the Spring Festival, people can still indulge in the festive atmosphere. They may not cook at home or stay at home for the whole festival, but they will cherish the moments they share during this special time. We hope our readers will enjoy our stories celebrating the Year of the Rooster, Chinese auspicious patterns and Spring Festival home cooking.

But there's more during this special season. Young Chinese especially will celebrate another festival this month, St. Valentine's Day, which is increasing in popularity in China as with Christmas. We also suggest prime choices for flowers for different occasions available in China, such as Valentine's Day and weddings, and the personal joys of our former editor, Shannon Roy, and his wife Wu Miniglei's very special approach to a cross-cultural wedding.

Happy New Year and good luck!
