Largest Touring Carnival Ended in Beijing

The World Carnival, the largest touring carnival in world, ended August 22 at the Shijingshan International Sculpture Park in Beijing. It opened on July 2, entertained two million visitors and earned gross revenues of 120 million yuan (US$14.5 million). The Shijingshan District Government's earned 12 million yuan from hosting the carnival, including tax revenues of 8 million yuan. World Carnival organizers have hinted that they will return to Beijing once each year before 2008, and perhaps even open a branch at the Ming Tombs Reservoir. Beginning in September, the World Carnival will tour to other cities and regions in China.
