2004/09/01
Text by Winnie Li

Enjoying a sweet treat with a cool drink can be a most pleasant thing on a sultry afternoon. Mango with polished rice is one of the most popular and traditional desserts in Thailand. Every year from April or May, mango season, Thais enjoy this delicious dish, home-style. It's refreshingly easy to make, too!

Ingredients: 1 cup glutinous rice; 2 ripe mangos, diced; half cup coconut milk; quarter cup sugar; half spoon of salt. Serves 4.

Directions: Soak a cup of polished glutinous rice for five hours, and then steam it for 25 minutes. Mix the sugar, salt, and coconut milk, stirring continuously, and pour it over the mango. Pouring the mixture over the glutinous rice, stirring quickly to evenly distribute.
