Thailand Woos Tourists from China

The Beijing Office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand has
set a new price standard for tourists from China. The office
also announced that a drawing that will be held in November to
reward tourists who tour Thailand from January to October.
The new fees apply to two routes. Travel from China to
Bangkok and Pataya will cost 120 yuan per day, with China to
Phuket costing 150 yuan per day. These prices will cover the
costs of hotel rooms, dinners and tickets to tourism
attractions.
As part of the reward programme, tourists from China,
including Chinese citizens and expatriates who have Chinese
residencies, will be given six postcards at the airports in
Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang Mai. The cards feature scenic sites
in Bangkok, Phuket, Pataya, Hua Hin and Chiang Mai. When
tourists arrive at these sites, they should ask local hotels,
restaurants or souvenir stores to put a seal on a corresponding
postcard. To qualify for the reward, when all the postcards
have seals, they should be sent to the Beijing Office of the
Tourism Authority of Thailand to enter a lucky drawing. Prizes
include the five-year use of two Audi autos, six round-trip
tickets from China to Bangkok, 30 digital cameras and 700 Thai
handworks.
