From the Editor-in-Chief2004/07/01
It seems sad to acknowledge, but for many visitors to Beijing "Chinese curios" means cheap DVDs and maybe a Mao badge. Sad because there's so much more waiting out there to be discovered, some of it located in areas of Beijing that are worth visiting on their own. In this issue we cover curios and antiques from various angles, including a photo essay showing just what variety and beauty awaits, should you but go in search of it; and hints, tips and locations for beginning your own antiquarian adventure. Also this month, Beijing This Month Publications will release our new, completely updated, tourist Map of Beijing. Pick one up at a quality hotel near you, or at the Capital Airport. Put simply, it's Beijing's most authoritative English-language map. As always, we welcome all your feedback, especially if it comes to edit@btmbeijing.com Have a fantastic July, Editor |
