Qinghai Lake Cycling Tour Race Ready

2004/07/01

The preparations for the Tour of Qinghai Lake International Cycling Race have entered a final stage. The 1,178.4-kilometre race slated for July 17-25 has a total course distance of 772.4 kilometres, which ranges from 2,230 metres to 3,820 metres above sea level in altitude, while a remaining 406 kilometres will be used for transiting. Twenty teams from 18 countries and regions will vie for stage and race honours in the nine stages set for the Tour.

The Tour has been rated a class-2.3 event by the sport's world governing body, the International Cycling Union (UCI). Points won will be counted in world rankings.
The twice-yearly race was originally part of the Qinghai Investment and Trade Expo, but has now developed into Asia's top cycling competition.
