The Nepal Tourism Board participated in a Road Show in
Beijing on June 9 as a part of regional tourism promotion for
Nepal. Air China, the national flag carrier of the People's
Republic of China is supporting the Nepal Tourism Board as a
Partner Airline.
Since China neighbours Nepal and is a strong emerging
economy with a sizeable market, Nepal is hopeful of tapping the
market to its benefit. Tourism is the mainstay of the Nepalese
economy and His Majesty's Government of Nepal has been
according top priority to promoting tourism in the region.
Air China flies directly to Nepal twice a week on Tuesdays
and Saturdays from Chengdu in China's Sichuan Province to
Kathmandu, Nepal (flying time 4 hours, 30 minutes). Chinese
tourists to Nepal are provided free visas upon arrival. There
has been a remarkable growth in Chinese tourists to Nepal
during the last four months, with a sharp rise in the month of
May.
