2004/07/01

The Nepal Tourism Board participated in a Road Show in Beijing on June 9 as a part of regional tourism promotion for Nepal. Air China, the national flag carrier of the People's Republic of China is supporting the Nepal Tourism Board as a Partner Airline.

Since China neighbours Nepal and is a strong emerging economy with a sizeable market, Nepal is hopeful of tapping the market to its benefit. Tourism is the mainstay of the Nepalese economy and His Majesty's Government of Nepal has been according top priority to promoting tourism in the region.

Air China flies directly to Nepal twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays from Chengdu in China's Sichuan Province to Kathmandu, Nepal (flying time 4 hours, 30 minutes). Chinese tourists to Nepal are provided free visas upon arrival. There has been a remarkable growth in Chinese tourists to Nepal during the last four months, with a sharp rise in the month of May.
