Ikebana Headmaster Visited Beijing
2004/07/01
Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging that
emphasizes form and balance, has become a popular leisure
activity in China. To celebrate its 10th anniversary, the
Beijing Branch of Ikenobo invited their Headmaster Sen'ei
Ikenobo to visit and perform in Beijing.
Ikenobo's history of over 500 years is a history of
searching for essential truths in the life of flowers and
plants. Though some schools separated from Ikenobo, it has
always been regarded as the originator of ikebana.
Sen'ei Ikenobo gave a lecture to the Beijing Branch members
and performed the art of ikebana at the Century Theatre.
